    The Clovis Invite is like a state meet preview, 42 state ranked teams competed and 8 of the top ten division
    one squads attended this meet. Bakersfield, Centennial, Foothill, Highland, Liberty, McFarland, Stockdale and
    Taft made the trip north to run on the state 5k course at Woodward Park. Many of our local squads appear to
    have been missing athletes (SAT test day or illness).

    One squad who came ready to run was Stockdale. After losing to SWYL rival Ridgeview on Wednesday, they
    did something that no other Bakersfield team has done in recent memory. They broke 85 minutes! To go sub
    85 minutes, one must average sub 17 minutes as a scoring team of five. Last year, Ridgeview came seconds
    away from pulling it off.

    But the Mustangs have beaten them to the punch. Becoming the only Kern school besides McFarland to do it.
    Of course McFarland does it every time they run at Woodward!

  • Top All - Time Kern Individual Times HERE. I have been trying to track down Woodward times from
    the past by Kern County athletes and below is a list of this year's performances along with the top ten. I only
    record sub 18 minute times for the boys and have found 138 of them over the years.
  • This year the youngsters have performed! Curtis Kelly (Stockdale Soph) ran 16:17 which ranks him number
    60th AT and freshman Erick Garcia (McFarland) went 16:32. 11 performances have joined my Club 16 so far
    this year.

  • For the girl's the cut-off is 20 minutes and so far this season no one has joined my Club 19. Last year only four
    girls broke 20 minutes at Woodward.

    you can see, McFarland has the top ten times and until Saturday, they were the only Kern team to break 85
    minutes (17 minute average for the scoring 5 over the 5k course). Now Stockdale has joined Club 84!

    The Drillers were the top Kern Girl's team with a team average time of 21:42. They were lead by the fastest
    Kern girl of the day, Sarah Baker (Jr) who ran 20:03 despite not feeling well throughout the race. The next best
    Kern girl was Stockdale freshman Patel who ran 20:20 over the 5k course.

    McFarland won the small school's division race. Stockdale boy's become the first Bakersfield boys team to
    break 85 minutes at Woodward park in recent memory! That is sub 17 minute 5ks per man average! Curtis
    Kelly (So) lead them with a 16:17 over the 5k course. The next best Kern boy was freshman Erick Garcia of
    Mcfarland who ran 16:32.

    The Driller girls had the top Kern team time and the top Kern individual time by Sarah Baker who ran 20:03 and
    was followed by Shuford who posted a good time of 20:58. For the first time since 2007, their fifth runner broke
    24 minutes which will help them in their quest for an undefeated SEYL title. They came in 26th in Race #3 -
