havent posted much lately because life has been crazy. practice has been hectic and then every night i am trying to organize stuff. cross country was a easy. track and field is crazy.
but i think i got a handle on it. check out our track page and see if i spelled your name right and/or got your grade right.
also i got the eb relays heat sheet up. if you are not on it, tell us. some may not have their paperwork done in time. so we will need subs for some events.
we hope to go to BC this week or next to train too!
the bus will be leaving BHS at 8:15 for the eb relays this saturday.
today, the sprinters practiced baton handoffs and the D team did ten 400s at a good clip.

the D team did six 800s and the sprinters did some time trialing. they ran a 100, then a 200 and then finished with a 400. so we could figure out who is going to run what at the eb relays.

the nor run is also known as the nazi run because of all the white pride graffiti under the bridges. despite the distasteful artwork, this is a nice run that heads east on the bike path, then crosses the river where the nor baseball field is. then runs on dirt trails (on the west side of the river) to 24th street. the whole run is about 3.5 miles.
course record:
- christopher anderson - 25:19 - 01/04/07
- andy noise - 45:04 - 12/25/06

fresno (mainly woodward park) has not been good to christopher but today he ran well. he started out dead last and past quite a few runners by the end, with a time of 12:30 (12:20 is his best xc time). he ran the first mile in 6:15 and then repeated it.
he also ran the 800 for the first time.

Interviews : Jim Grabow of Long Beach State
by Tom Borish (2/19/07)
Grabow already qualified for the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships (Long Beach sports photo)
1. You recently ran the seventh fastest time in the world this year at the Husky Invitational, setting the school-record in the indoor 5000 meters with a time of 13:44.04. Describe the race and how did you feel after also automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships?
Going into the race I knew it was going to be fast. I also knew that I was in very good shape so good things were going to happen. I did not have any specific goals; I only wanted to break 14:00. For me, the race unfolded pretty fast. We started off as a long line of runners and I was near the back of the pack. When I felt that the pace was going to slow or when I saw a gap forming in front me I would throw in a surge and sit on the next runner. That’s basically how the race unfolded for me. After the race I was pretty excited because I knew I had qualified for nationals. It’s a real good feeling knowing you have your reservations for the big show.

Nike Inc.’s latest efforts to become more intimately involved with the high school coaching community on the local track and field scene included a visit from two Beaverton, Ore.-based representatives who teamed with local Nike “Ekins” in hosting a special social for coaches on Tuesday night. An estimated 90 coaches braved early-evening traffic to turn out for the once-a-season event, which offered up guest speakers, a viewing of Nike’s newsest and soon-to-be-released competitino and training shoes, free “schwag” for all registered attendees, as well as food and drink in a casual setting.

Even with some “Driller bashing”……..things went very well last night at the boundary meeting. I appreciate those who spoke in support of Dr. Carter’s recommendation and if you are so inclined to send another email or letter in support of the recommendation then feel free. The last part of the process is for the Board of Trustees to vote on the recommendation at the next board meeting March 5th.

Veteran leadership can steal an advantage in even the tightest playoff match. Intangibles aside, if a senior can accurately place balls in front of the net as easily as tossing darts at a corkboard, that advantage can only be enhanced.

The accomplishments of J.R. Henderson were painted in photos and written in headlines and stories for all of Bakersfield to read and see in 1994. He was the one, the leader of East High, who dunked and dazzled the Blades to a third consecutive Central Section Division II championship and a win in the state championship game
