SEYL Track Prelims and Finals
The frosh-soph will compete on Tuesday, May 1 at Liberty. We will also have to run Varsity prelims in the events listed below in order to narrow the fields down to 9 entrants in the running events and 12 entrants in the field events for Thursday’s Varsity finals at Liberty. Any changes you wish to make in your entries must be sent to Liberty High before noon on Monday, April 30.
Required Varsity Prelims on Tuesday:
Boys 110 Hurdles (14 entrants)
Girls 400 (13)
Boys 400 (24)
Girls 100 (15)
Boys 100 (24)
Girls 800 (17)
Boys 800 (18)
Boys 300 Hurdles (13)
Girls 200 (14)
Boys 200 (24)
Boys Discus (19)
Boys Long Jump (18)
Boys Shot Put (21)
Additionally, there are 13 entrants (one more than the required cutoff) in the Girls Long Jump, Boys Pole Vault and Boys High Jump. My suggestion would be that all 13 advance to the finals, thus relieving us of even more events in what will be an already long meet on Tuesday.
ariey got a good workout and ran 5:04 as a tune up for the meet of championships.
good luck and run smart at the MOC!
eric didnt get to throw so he ran the 1600 in 8:57.
I know that there has been reports through the media regarding events at BHS. I cannot say very much about the situation but I will try to make sure that I clear up some facts.
#1. The school is VERY safe and every thing is going normal.
#2. There are no hitlists, plans, or anything of that sort.
#3. The situation is being handled as a violation of school policy nothing as serious that would warrant police attention
#4. No other TV station has even bothered to pay attention to the story…. but everything is good in Driller Land.
foothill 3200Originally uploaded by andynoise.
it was hot and it was on dirt but it didnt matter to matt and zack. today they both PRed by a huge amount in the 3200 at the foothill invite.
before the race i told them to follow christopher for the first lap and they did.
zack then left him and ended up going from the back of the pack of twenty plus runners to fifth place (he was in fourth but got passed on the homestretch). he ran 11:46 for an 11 second PR.
matt stay behind christopher for the first 6 laps and then lost a some time on lap seven. he ended up PRing by 36 seconds! he ran 13:38.
christopher ran around 13:30 and then ran home from foothill

As many as 2,000 Kern High School District freshmen might have to stay in ninth grade next year if trustees approve a policy change proposed Thursday.

Lauderdale breaking records
Ridgeview’s Dominique Lauderdale ran the fastest 200 meters in Central Section history at the Mount SAC relays this month.
A senior, Lauderdale ran a 24.06, which beat the previous record of 24.11 held by Tiffany Bennett of Centennial. Lauderdale’s personal best 200-meter mark was 23.92, which she ran while taking third at the AAU Nationals last summer.
Bennett’s 100 meter record of 11.69 is also within striking distance for Lauderdale. She holds the top current mark in the Central Section this season with an 11.81, and she ran an 11.78 last summer during a qualifying meet.
Lauderdale’s current marks in the 100 and 200 meters are best in the Central Section, and both are No. 4 in the state. The top marks in the state this season are 11.62 in the 100 and 23.73 in the 200.
A number of schools are recruiting Lauderdale, including Texas, Arkansas, Washington, Oregon and Nevada-Reno.
