the final handicap race of the summer was a fast one. seems like everyone was under thirty today (which means they PRed).
anders, edquist, phil, and my boys all PRed tonite. i believe sara and gabby did too. not bad since the guys all did a 2 mile time trial in the morning too.
before the race i spoke to galvin (mcfarland coach) and he said his team was looking good. he has ten under 17 minutes already. their freshman class is suppose to be their best ever. yikes! at the end of the month they are going to scrimmage madera and some other fresno area schools at woodward park.
ridgeview, csub, bc, north and liberty were represented well this evening too. surprisingly, i have not seen foothill at all this summer. in the past, they have had a huge turn out at the btc summer handicap series.
dont forget the Summer Series Awards Pizza Party - Papa O’s Pizza on the corner of Hageman and Gosford on September 5 (Should be a Wednesday) at 6:30. it is the night of the eb invitational. so we can run the meet and then hit the pizza party!

well our trip started like many and ended late.
da boys and i got to bhs before 7 am and there was transportation issues.
we had the vans but they didnt leave the keys. half hour later, we were on the road.
our first stop was griffith park where we checked out the pony ride and train ride and then did a 40 minute run on the shaded horse trail.
then we took off for the beach. we ended up at dockweiler beach and spent the day in the surf and sand. then it was time for another run.
we ended the day with a stroll through the venice canals and the boardwalk. venice isnt as wacky as it use to be but it was still entertaining.
then we headed home.

Mt. Hollywood Trail: (Map: USGS 7.5′ Hollywood & Burbank).
By far the most popular hiking trail in all of Griffith Park. One of the reasons for its popularity is access and a million dollar view of Los Angeles, including the Pacific Ocean and eastern San Fernando Valley.
The beginning of the Hollywood trail starts in Fern Dell (Mococahuenga Canyon) at the bottom entrance to the park. A more popular and much shorter trail begins at the north end of the Griffith Observatory parking lot at the Charlie Turner trailhead.
